Customs regulations & VAT refunds

Regardless of your destination, you can buy perfumes, cosmetics, wine and spirits in the TAX FREE-Shop. If you are travelling outside the EU, you can buy duty free tobacco products.

VAT Refund

Danish prices include 25 percent Value Added Tax (VAT). It is refundable to persons who are non-EU residents and who are travelling to a non-EU destination.

The amount can only be paid out in Denmark if Denmark is the final EU destination before your home country/end destination.

For purchases made at shops outside the airport:

  • A refund of between 10% and 19% of the total price of the item is made, depending on the amount.
  • Purchases of above DKK 300 must have been made in a single shop (for Norwegians at least DKK 1,200 per item).
  • The shop will issue a cheque on request, if you are resident outside the EU.
  • The cheque is stamped by the Danish Customs Agency in Terminal 3. Danish, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian Global Blue cheques are stamped by Global Blue. Danish and Norwegian Planet cheques are stamped by Planet (Global Exchange).
  • The amount can be withdrawn from Global Blue or Planet Tax Free.
  • Outside opening hours, the Danish Customs Agency in Terminal 3 will stamp all cheques.

For purchases made at the airport shops:

  • A refund between 10 – 19 % of the total price of the item is made.
  • Purchases of above DKK 300 must have been made in a single shop (for Norwegians at least DKK 1,200 per item).
  • The passenger is travelling directly to a destination outside the EU.
  • The shop at the airport deducts VAT at the checkout. However, on stopovers to another EU country, the above procedure may be used.

For Norwegians or persons residing in Norway, the following applies:

  • The item concerned must cost at least DKK 1,200.
  • Norwegian Customs must be contacted for payment of import VAT before a refund of the Danish VAT is made.
