Can I bring my dog or cat on board the plane?

 
As a general rule, you are allowed to bring your dog or cat when flying. However, this depends on whether your airline permits it, and you must purchase this option when booking your flight tickets.

Whether your pet can travel in the cabin or must be checked in as baggage also depends on the airline’s rules. For example, some airlines allow dogs and cats to be brought on board in a carrier bag, while others do not.

Before the journey begins, dogs and cats can use the small outdoor area before the security checkpoint. We are also working on an indoor area after the security checkpoint, which is expected to be completed in 2028.

Location: The small pet toilet is located at Lufthavnstorvet, an area between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Where can I rent crates for dogs and cats?

It can vary from airline to airline what type of carrier or crate is required when traveling with your pet. Therefore, you should check the regulations directly with your airline.

Most pet stores sell both large and small carriers for animals, and some shops/places also offer renting for a period of time.

Will my dog or cat be scanned at Security?

If you are bringing your dog or cat as hand baggage, the animal must also be scanned at the security checkpoint just like other travellers.

If the animal is in a transport crate, both the crate and any accessories such as collars, leashes, etc. must be scanned separately. If the scanner triggers an alarm, the animal will be manually inspected in an examination room.

What are the rules for service dogs at the airport?

Service dogs are allowed at the airport, as they can be an essential aid for passengers with physical and/or mental disabilities. However, it is important that you inform the airline when booking your flight if you are travelling with a service dog.

The rules regarding dog accompaniment and where the service dog may stay during the flight vary between airlines. In most cases, the dog is allowed to travel with its handler in the cabin, but it is important to check this directly with your airline
