New DAY store opens at Copenhagen Airport
The well-known Danish fashion house Day Birger Et Mikkelsen has opened a second store at Copenhagen Airport with all the best of what DAY offers. It is a new flagship store and the first store to feature a special concept of meeting customers at multiple sense levels. DAY's existing shop at the airport will be converted into a DAY Accessories shop offering items such as scarves, bags and jewellery.
Fashion, fascination and fusion make up the pivotal point of the DAY brand, in which designs evolve in a mix of inspiration from abroad and great commitment to the craft. DAY is where east meets west with a special twist of Scandinavia – a fusion that occurs every day at Copenhagen Airport amid the flow of passengers from all corners of the world. The airport's many passengers will now have an opportunity to experience this special universe at the new flagship store at Copenhagen Airport.
"We find inspiration from all the places in the world we visit; it shows in all our collections. That made the opening of the large DAY flagship store at the centre of the shopping area at Copenhagen Airport a logical step as it brings us close to where it all started," said Keld Mikkelsen, founder and chairman of DAY Birger et Mikkelsen, and continued "We have created an atmosphere in our store that will inspire travellers and make them feel welcome in our unique DAY universe."
The new DAY store at Copenhagen Airport will be an open door to the entire world, and the concept reflects this fusion of world inspirations from floor to ceiling. The floor is red terrazzo from Italy laid in a herringbone pattern that creates a sense of soft waves, while the ceiling is like a bright floating cloud with a luminous DAY pattern in the middle. Together this creates a sense of partially transparent elements that stimulate curiosity and allure travellers into DAY's magical universe.

DAY's collections include the lines Day Main Line, 2nd Day and Day Home, which are sold in more than a thousand shops in 25 countries worldwide. The new store is located between Terminal 3 and Nytorv, right after security and the airport's large duty- and taxfree store. The new store opened on Monday, 6 July, while the existing store will be renovated in the summer of 2015 before opening as a DAY Accessories shop.
