SunExpress offers new route from CPH to Izmir

Holiday carrier SunExpress is launching two weekly direct flights from Copenhagen to the bustling Aegean city of Izmir

The new Copenhagen-Izmir route will be inaugurated on April 5th with two weekly services on Thursday and Saturday.

“This is yet another sign that our focus on Turkey is working. The route is expected to be mainly leisure traffic but it also has business potential as several European companies are established in Izmir,” says Copenhagen Airports director of route development Ole Wieth Christensen.

SunExpress was founded in October 1989 as a joint venture, which is equally owned by Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. With its main hubs in Antalya and Izmir SunExpress carries about 7 million passengers this year to 93 destinations – both on scheduled as well as charter flights.

“SunExpress has always been present in the Danish market by connecting Antalya with several Danish cities. We are now looking forward to further expand this commitment with two weekly flights from Copenhagen to Izmir,” says Chief Commercial Officer, Server Aydin, from SunExpress.

“As Izmir is the 2nd most popular Turkish destination in Denmark, it is a consequent and right step to connect these two cities with direct flights. We are inviting all our guests to explore the numerous historical locations in Izmir and indulge at endless sandy beaches of the beautiful Aegean Region of Turkey,” Server Aydin stresses.

SunExpress has a modern fleet of currently 52 Boeing 737-800 and 10 Boeing 737-700 aircraft with a total capacity of approximately 11.000 seats.

The route to Copenhagen will be served with the 737-800 every Thursday and Saturday leaving Izmir at 15:30 and arriving in CPH at 18:10. SunExpress departs from Copenhagen at 19:05 arriving in Izmir at 23:30.   Flights start at 95,99 Euro and can be booked through www.sunexpress.com or local travel agencies.
