CPH: Solid growth in November

Recent months’ growth in passenger numbers continued last month, as more than two million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in November. The increase was mainly driven by European and intercontinental traffic, but domestic traffic also contributed.

A total of 2,069,288 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in November for a 12.2% y/y increase. The aggregate growth rate for the first eleven months of the year was 3.2%.

The main growth drivers were European and intercontinental traffic, but domestic traffic also contributed. An increase of more than 10,000 domestic passengers in November produced a 7.5% year-on-year improvement.

“Traffic between Copenhagen and Aalborg increased strongly compared with November of last year, in part due to a slight increase in capacity on this route between northern and eastern Denmark,” said CEO Thomas Woldbye.

“Overall, the main growth drivers are the European and intercontinental routes. Among the intercontinental routes, Middle East destinations are becoming increasingly popular. UK and Italian destinations are the main drivers of growth on European routes. Notably, the increase in this segment also covers a rather significant increase in the number of foreign tourists and business people travelling to Denmark, creating revenue and jobs here,” Woldbye explained.

Year to date, 24,676,846 million passengers have travelled through Copenhagen Airport, marking a 3.2% increase on last year. Intercontinental traffic is up by 2.7%, European traffic is up by 3.8%, and domestic traffic, while down 3.9%, has started to recover.
