Three new routes out of Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport started off the last month of autumn with the launch of three new routes: AeroSvit to Kiev, easyJet to Basel and Cimber Sterling to Tel Aviv.

Rapidly expanding Ukrainian-based airline AeroSvit launched its new service between Copenhagen and Kiev on Monday, 1 November. This has made access easier to one of eastern Europe’s important growth economies, as there are now daily flights from Copenhagen to the Ukrainian capital.

“This daily service by AeroSvit means a lot to both Denmark and Ukraine as it makes travel between the two countries much easier”, said Mr. Mykhailo Skuratovskyi, Ambassador of Ukraine to Denmark. “It reflects the development of the bilateral collaboration between our two countries, which is of great benefit to both business and leisure travellers,” he added.

AeroSvit is a young airline with only 15 years of existence, but it already operates around 60 international services. Destinations served include Delhi, Bangkok and Beijing, which can now also be reached from Copenhagen via Kiev.

Cimber Sterling to Tel Aviv
Cimber Sterling launched its first route to a destination outside Europe last Monday, when it opened its new non-stop service to the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.

The destination has been unserved since 2001 was the fifth-largest unserved route out of Copenhagen Airport during that period. The service is therefore expected to have a great potential and to be attractive to the many tourists who can now travel to Israel on non-stop flights out of Copenhagen also during the winter season.

easyJet to Basel
Monday, 1 November, also saw the opening of a new service to Basel, when rapidly growing low-cost carrier easyJet added Basel to its long list of destinations.

easyJet grew by 60% in 2009 in Copenhagen alone, and in 2010 the total number of passengers carried will be 30% higher than in 2009. Copenhagen Airport’s decision to build a dedicated low-cost pier has been a key factor in this growth performance.

“CPH Go helps ensure competitive fares on routes to Copenhagen as compared with other European airports and cities. This is good news for European consumers who we can reach through our well-developed network with destinations in 29 countries. CPH Go helps enhance Copenhagen's rating among preferred European leisure and business destinations,” said Thomas Haagensen, easyJet’s Regional General Manager for Northern Europe and Scandinavia.
