CPH starts the year on a growth note

Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport for January rose by 5.7% year on year. Almost 1.4 million passengers travelled through the airport during the first month of the year, making January the third consecutive month of growth in passenger numbers.

“After a challenging year in 2009, we are happy to start 2010 on a growth note. Progress was recorded in almost all areas of our operations; and we are especially pleased to see that domestic traffic rose by 22.1%. The significant increase was primarily due to the stronger competition on the domestic services to Aalborg, Karup and Bornholm,” said Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales, Copenhagen Airports.

The strong increase in the number of domestic passengers meant that domestic passengers accounted for approximately 12% of passengers at Copenhagen Airport, up from the previous level of 9-10%. The number of locally departing passengers rose by 9.6%, whilst the number of transfer passengers dropped by only 2.2%. International traffic grew by 3.8%. In total, 1,384,223 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in January 2010.
