Airport regrets baggage handling problems

Problems with baggage handling system during peak travel weekend caused by computer failure.

The weekend of 4 and 5 July were peak travel days at Copenhagen Airport with some 140,000 passengers travelling through the airport. A failure in the computer system controlling the baggage handling system unfortunately meant that more than 3,000 pieces of baggage did not make it onboard the right flights and more than 50 flights out of Copenhagen were delayed over the weekend.

Copenhagen Airport sincerely regrets the inconvenience that these technical baggage handling problems caused to airlines, handling companies and - ultimately - the passengers whose holidays consequently got off to a bad start.

Copenhagen Airport is deploying all staff and technical equipment to ensure stable operations over the rest of the summer and is collaborating closely with airlines and handling companies to establish the best possible contingency plans if, contrary to expectations, any further technical problems with the baggage system should arise.
