SAS to open new routes
SAS is launching a new service to Lyon, France and adding additional frequencies to four existing routes. These initiatives support Copenhagen Airport’s status as a northern European hub.
On 6 April 2010, SAS opens a new service with daily flights between Copenhagen and Lyon. In addition, the Scandinavian network airline is increasing the number of frequencies on four of its existing destinations: Brussels, Bologna, Stockholm and Oslo. One daily return flight will be added to the four destinations. These new steps are being taken in the wake of the launch of a new SAS service to Vilnius, Lithuania.
“We look forward to offering our customers a new service to Lyon. The city has a big business market and is also a very good starting point for holiday trips. Moreover, we have seen greater demand and have received requests from our customers for more flight options to Brussels, Bologna, Stockholm and Oslo. We are therefore increasing our frequencies on those destinations," said Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Commercial Director at SAS.
Both departures and arrivals on the new destinations and the new frequencies on existing destinations are timed so as to provide good and easy access to SAS and the extensive network of Star Alliance.
“We are very pleased with these new SAS initiatives because a wider range of destinations and more frequencies are a prerequisite for growth and thus help support the position of Copenhagen Airport as one of the leading traffic hubs of northern Europe,” said Carsten Nørland, VP Sales, Copenhagen Airport.
