New SAS route to Vilnius

SAS Scandinavian Airlines is expanding its route network again: this time to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, with two daily connections debuting on 11 January 2010.

On 11 January 2010, SAS will be opening two daily connections on its new route from Copenhagen Airport to Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. The airline will deploy a CRJ 900 aircraft seating 88 passengers on the new route.

Departures from Copenhagen will be daily at 11.45 am (although at 12.25 pm on Saturdays) and 8.55 pm. From Vilnius, flights will depart daily at 6.30 am and 3.30 pm (but 2.50 pm on Saturdays). The flight will take about 90 minutes.

”For SAS to expand its network with a route to Lithuania was a natural choice. Vilnius is a huge business market as well as part of our natural domestic market. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board our flights to Vilnius,” said Per Møller Jensen, vice president for marketing and sales with SAS in Denmark.

Copenhagen Airport is a major hub for air traffic between the Baltic countries and the rest of the world, and this new SAS connection to Vilnius opens the door to many other SAS destinations in Scandinavia, Europe, Asia and the USA.
