Illums Bolighus launches new concept at Copenhagen Airport

As part of the extension of its contract with CPH, Illums Bolighus is launching a new concept at the three interior design units at Copenhagen Airport.

“Illums Bolighus is a strong brand well known by Danes and tourists alike. At Copenhagen Airport, we want to give passengers a taste of what Danish and Scandinavian art and design is.  In that context, the Illums Bolighus retail concept fits perfectly with the airport’s design idiom and atmosphere, as they offer Scandinavian furniture and design products of a modern and classical nature,” said Henrik Busch, director of commercial activities at Copenhagen Airports A/S.       

A new shop concept
As part of the extension of the contract, Illums Bolighus will update the three units with a new idiom. The refurbished shops will be ready for the summer, and the project will give them a more airy and welcoming atmosphere.      

“I am very pleased that we have won the tender and I look forward to revealing the new shop concept in the summer. Illums Bolighus is known for simple and clean design and for air and space around their products This will also be reflected in their new shops at Copenhagen Airport so that the units better complement and underline the architectural idiom at the airport,” said Henrik Ypkendanz, CEO of Illums Bolighus. 

A competent retailer
According to Henrik Busch, several competent retailers submitted bids; Illums Bolighus was awarded the contract because they presented the most attractive business case. Moreover, the company is already familiar with the challenges and opportunities of operating an airport shop.

“The profile of Illums Bolighus fits well into our strategy for tourists as well as the large number of Scandinavian travellers flying out of Copenhagen Airport who need gifts for their friends and business relations. Illums Bolighus meets this demand very well, and with their new proposal and ideas for renewal, they will make things even better,” said Busch.
