Metro services to Copenhagen Airport round the clock

From Monday, 16 March, the Copenhagen Metro will be operating round the clock on all days of the week. According to the manager of passenger services at Copenhagen Airport, this is good news for the airport’s passengers and staff.

No matter when your flight departs or arrives, you can use the Metro to and from Copenhagen Airport in future.

“With round-the-clock Metro services, passengers will enjoy greater flexibility when they travel to and from Copenhagen Airport. Moreover, Copenhagen Airport is a large workplace with some 22,000 people working there at all times of the day. They will also benefit from the round-the-clock Metro service,” said Susanne Frank, Passenger Manager at Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Fast and easy transfer from train seat to flight seat
The airport’s latest reports show that 14% of all international passengers travelling out of Copenhagen Airport go to the airport by Metro. To this should be added the many employees who commute to the airport every day.

Copenhagen Airport is one of the world’s best-equipped airports with respect to infrastructure, with the Øresund bridge, motorway, train, bus and Metro right to the door. The Metro station and railway station are an integral part of Terminal 3, which allows passengers to transfer fast and conveniently from train seat to flight seat.  The expanded Metro service makes it even easier for passengers to get to the airport at all times of the day,” said Susanne Frank.

Modernisation of Terminal 3
After the Metro was extended to Copenhagen Airport in 2007, the northern area of Terminal 3 has become very busy and a change of the area is therefore needed. Copenhagen Airport is currently building two new escalators from the ground floor level to the Metro balcony; in addition more space will be created and better check-in facilities will be established with more self-service kiosks. It is expected that the project will be completed before the summer of 2009.

The Copenhagen Metro is one of the first driverless metros in the world to operate round the clock on all days of the week.

Schedule for night-time operations
From 16 March, the Copenhagen Metro will operate every 20 minutes on the night after Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Between 1.00 and 1.30 am and between 4.00 and 4.30 am, there will be slightly longer between trains because this is the time of transition from day-time operation to night-time operation and vice versa.

On the night after Friday and Saturday, the trains will continue to operate every 15 minutes.
