New operator of Copenhagen Airport’s advertising media

Clear Channel Danmark A/S awarded contract for the operation and development of the advertising media at Copenhagen Airport.

As of 1 January 2009, Clear Channel Danmark A/S will be working as the new advertising media operator for Copenhagen Airport and will take over the responsibility for all indoor and outdoor advertising media such as illuminated signs, exhibition sites, screens and large-format banners at the airport.

Following an international call for tenders for the airport’s advertising concession, Copenhagen Airports A/S today signed a five-year contract with Clear Channel Danmark A/S, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Outdoor, the world’s biggest provider of outdoor media with companies in 65 countries.

“Clear Channel is a highly experienced company with strong expertise in outdoor advertising. We look forward to working with them to develop and expand this business at Copenhagen Airport in the years to come, among other things through new and innovative media platforms," said Lasse Barsholm, who is responsible for the advertising business at Copenhagen Airports A/S.

“There is great potential for advertising media in the airport’s unique, international atmosphere. Here advertisers have the opportunity to communicate effectively with decision makers in the B-to-B market and with consumers with great spending power in the B-to-C market,” he adds.

Showcase for new advertising media
Clear Channel Danmark A/S has 170 employees and generates annual revenues of approximately DKK 250 million. The company is in charge of the advertising projection in the Copenhagen Metro, all kinds of media at the rail services providers Banedanmark’s and DSB’s properties, on bus shelters in 41 municipalities in Denmark, 85% of the Danish market for bus advertising and 70% of the Danish billboard market.

The new concession strengthens the company’s position as a market leader in the Danish outdoor market with a total market share of 65%.

“Our goal is for Copenhagen Airport at any time to appear as one of the leading international airports in the advertising field; a showcase where the most modern and visually stimulating advertising media are put into operation,” said Henrik Sørensen, CEO of Clear Channel Danmark A/S.

He ads that Copenhagen Airport holds substantial development potential in the advertising field, which Clear Channel is looking forward to exploiting in the years to come.

Internationally, Clear Channel’s concession agreements include some of the largest airports in the United States and its advertising reaches six out of ten passengers on the US market. Moreover, the company has concessions in 67 airports in other countries across five continents. In Europe, Clear Channel’s concessions include the airports in Oslo, Helsinki and Zurich.

Clear Channel Danmark A/S takes over the advertising concession at Copenhagen Airport from AFA JCDecaux, which has operated and developed the advertising media at the airport for a number of years.
