Copenhagen Airport launches website section for disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility

Copenhagen Airport’s new service for passengers with a disability or reduced mobility (PRMs) comes into force on 26 July. To help PRMs begin their journey in an smooth and comfortable way, Copenhagen Airport now launches a new section on www.cph.dk where travellers can read about everything from how to booking disability service to call points and facilities for PRMs at the airport.

The airlines have traditionally been responsible for providing assistance to PRMs. In order to ensure that passengers get uniform service, the EU now requires European airports to implement a standardised service scheme for PRMs. As has been the case so far, the cost of this service is included in the ticket price.

When the service scheme for PRMs comes into force on 26 July, it will be the result of many months of close coordination with the Disabled Peoples Organisations in Denmark (DPOD), the airlines and Falck, who have all been involved in the practical coordination from the beginning of the project. Before Copenhagen Airports and the airlines take over responsibility for the scheme, the airport today launches a new section for PRMs on its website.

Easier for PRMs to travel in future
In future, passengers can get information on the website ranging from how to book disability service to information about practical facilities at the airport and call points. The section has been developed in close collaboration with the DPOD who have provided input for the contents of the section, accessibility and readability:

“Copenhagen Airport has been very open with respect accommodating the needs of PRMs,” said Carsten Graversen, a consultant on accessibility and assistive aids with the DPOD.

“When I first read the text on the website, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is so informative and easy to understand.  I am sure that PRMs will feel well-informed before travelling, which will give them a better start to their journey. If Copenhagen Airport maintains this professional level, I am sure it will be easier for PRMs to travel in future," Graversen added.

A forum for exchange of experience and good ideas
The website section has been developed in close collaboration with the DPOD, Falck and the authorities. According to Henrik Peter Jørgensen, COO at Copenhagen Airports A/S, the information provided on the website is an important tool in giving PRMs a good travel experience:

“On the website, we will provide information to PRMs on what to do from they arrive at the airport until they are seated on board their flight. We want to provide passengers with the best possible information on the scheme in order to increase passenger satisfaction. On the website, we encourage all users to give advice to us and each other in order to share information on their experience and good ideas,” said Jørgensen.
