A peaceful oasis for contemplation and introspection

On 15 May, Copenhagen Airport opened a new ‘Silent Lounge’, a peaceful oasis for travellers. Here, passengers will find an atmosphere for contemplation and introspection which they can take with them on their journey.

Copenhagen Airport has opened a Silent Lounge to offer passengers a place of peace and quiet.

“We need this kind of oasis in our everyday lives; a peaceful place where we can go to reflect and find the quiet parts of ourselves. I therefore think it is a very great idea that Copenhagen Airport now makes facilities available offering people an opportunity to meditate and process the many impressions they get while travelling.  In this way, we as passengers have a unique opportunity to find our inner self and creativity and to increase our tolerance,” said Henrik Krogh who has worked professionally for 18 years in the field of stress, success and management training.

“In the same way as travellers by train choose a silent compartment, passengers at Copenhagen Airport now also have the opportunity to find a breathing space or a pocket of time on their journey. I believe that this is coming in demand by more and more people,” said Krogh.

Furniture chosen with great care

The furniture of the Silent Lounge helps give the room a relaxed atmosphere. The style is simple and Scandinavian and signals calm and neutrality. Everything is kept in silver and white, symbolising peace and light.

“The furniture was designed for the room and selected carefully because each piece serves a purpose and should not encourage any use that does not belong in the room such as sleeping, eating or talking on your mobile phone. The room caters to all passengers, irrespective of their faith or nationality. Therefore, the room does not contain any specific religious symbols that may be offensive or distracting,” said Sidse Marie Brandt, project manager and architect, Copenhagen Airports A/S.

The Silent Lounge is located in Pier B and was opened on 15 May.
