More capacity and time at security checkpoint for families travelling with children

Most parents get nervous at the thought of getting through security with young children, a baby change bag and carry-on bags. To give these families and the other passengers at Copenhagen Airport a calm and pleasant start to their jouney, the airport opened a new family lane for security screening on 23 June.

The peak season at the airport is gaining momentum with very large numbers of holiday travellers and peak travel days. To give families with young children and other passengers a calm and pleasant start to their journey, Copenhagen Airport has opened a new family lane for security screening in the summer season.

“This is very nice service for families travelling with young children. A very good service offered by the airport. It is not at all stressful to go through security now and it is very easy to find,” said the Malmgren family, one of the first families to go through the airport’s special family lane. 
 
Employees take more time
“Families with young children need extra time to get through security and it is not very pleasant if the next passenger in line is a business traveller in a hurry to make his or her flight. For the benefit of all passengers, we have therefore introduced a family lane solely for families travelling with children. Here, staff at the checkpoint will take extra time to ensure that both the children and their parents get a good and relaxed start to their journey. Moreover, it benefits all other passengers as they can get through security faster and easier,” said Johnnie Müller, head of Security at Copenhagen Airport.

Clear signs
The family lane is located in the outer lines of the security screening facility. There are good signs for the family lane which includes two out of the 16 lines available. Moreover, capacity can be increased by adding additional lines if needed. The family lane will be open through August.
