Useful tips before the winter break

When the school winter break begins, Copenhagen Airport will be extra busy. Many passengers will travel to the Alps on skiing holiday. Others prefer warmer climates. Regardless of whether your suitcase is packed with skis or swimsuits, we have a number of useful tips for a smoother journey.

During the busiest days of the winter break, from 7 February through 10 February, the average number of locally departing passengers is expected to reach around 24,000 daily, which is more than 20% more than the average number of passengers in January and February.

Check-in on a kiosk, your mobile phone or sas.dk

In addition to SAS’s own check-in kiosks, Copenhagen Airport also makes check-in kiosks available to the airlines. A total of 28 airlines at Copenhagen Airport offer their passengers kiosk check-in. If possible, SAS passengers are recommended to use a number of self-service options giving them an easier and smoother start to their journey:

"Copenhagen Airport will be busy before and during the winter break. We advise our customers to check in on sas.dk or use our check-in kiosks or their mobile phones, if possible. In that way, all passengers will pass through the airport in less time and begin their journey as planned. If you have special needs, special baggage or if you have not checked in from home, we advise you to arrive at the airport earlier than normal," says Lars Bording, Sales and Marketing Manager of SAS Danmark.

Begin your journey at home

Sterling also recommends that their passengers prepare themselves at home on www.sterling.dk before departure:

"Many of our customers will be travelling during the winter break, and we are therefore more focused on check-in before departure. We recommend that our passengers do not begin their holiday at the last minute and that they buy baggage space on our website from home and pack accordingly," says Maj-Britt Vittrup Nielsen, Communications Manager of Sterling. She continues: "To ensure that all our customers will travel as planned, our flights will depart on time, and if you have no need for check-in assistance, you can proceed faster to the security checkpoints by using our check-in kiosks at the terminals".

Extra staff

Copenhagen Airport will bring in extra service staff at the security checkpoints and in the departure hall. The extra staff will provide information and guidance to passengers and in that way ensure a smoother flow through the airport.

"We will do everything we can to avoid queues at the security checkpoints by bringing in extra staff, but at the busiest times, passengers may experience waiting times. Passengers can do a lot to reduce waiting times by packing their carry-on baggage at home in accordance with the requirements. Spending a few minutes at home and following the advice we offer on www.cph.dk will be worthwhile. If you are well prepared, you will save a lot of time at the airport, which will benefit both you and other passengers," says Susanne Frank, Passenger Manager at Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Five-point checklist for a smooth start to your journey

"Passengers can find five tips for a faster and smoother start to their journey on the airport's website" says Susanne Frank.
