easyJet to open Copenhagen-Milan route
Europe’s fourth-largest airline continues to grow, now also expanding its European route network with a new route out of Denmark. This will increase the number of easyJet routes to and from Copenhagen to three.
Today easyJet announced the opening of yet another Danish route on 1 October, now also offering passengers a daily frequency between Copenhagen and Milan’s Malpensa Airport. The new Danish route is the third easyJet service out of Copenhagen: easyJet already has routes to London and Berlin.
“The new route between Copenhagen and Milan is part of our continued growth and our first step towards an increased focus on Scandinavia. We are starting with service between Copenhagen and Milan and Stockholm and Milan, and more routes will be added later on,” said John Kohlsaat, easyJet’s General Manager, Northern Europe.
“We would like to offer the broadest possible range of services to passengers, and this goal will be supported by easyJet’s new service to Milan. easyJet is one of the fastest growing airlines in Europe, so we are very pleased to see an expansion of the airline’s routes out of Copenhagen – which we have been working towards for a long time,” said Brian Petersen, President and CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
easyJet expects a great deal of interest in the new route from both leisure and business travellers. Milan is a world-famous, pulsating centre of culture and fashion and the home town of the Scala Opera. And then there is football, of course: Milan is also home to major European football clubs AC Milan and Inter.
Furthermore, Milan is the richest city in Italy and the financial and industrial centre of the country. Milan is known for brands such as Pirelli, Alfa Romeo and Campari and is a leading city for fashion, furniture and IT fairs.
In addition, Milan is close to many of the major Italian ski resorts, so the route will be attractive to passengers out of Copenhagen all year round.
“There are many reasons for flying to Milan: for a weekend break, for summer holidays or for business trips. And now passengers out of Copenhagen have this new option of a quick and easy flight to Milan,” said Kohlsaat.
