Sterling launches new service to Bergen
Sterling recently announced that the airline plans to launch a service to Bergen, Norway from the summer of 2008. This is further proof of the airline’s position as the second-largest airline at Copenhagen Airport.
Sterling recently announced that it plans to expand its route network to include Bergen from 31 March 2008. The new route strengthens the position of Sterling as the second-largest airline at Copenhagen Airport with some two million passengers per year.
"We see great potential for Sterling on the Copenhagen-Bergen route. We expect to see the same trend on this route as when Sterling began operating on the Copenhagen-Aalborg route last year: lower fares, for the benefit of passengers," said Michael T. Hansen, Commercial Director of Sterling.
Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports, also welcomes Sterling’s new service to the second-largest city of Norway with a flying time of 1 hour and 20 minutes,
"Our experience shows that more flights often expand the market and generates more traffic on a route. We are therefore very pleased that Sterling will launch a service to Bergen, and we hope it will make even more passengers travel to and from Copenhagen Airport. An attractive and well-developed route network is one of the factors that help us retain the airport’s position as the hub of Scandinavia," said Brian Petersen.
Four daily frequencies on weekdays
When the summer schedule is launched, Sterling will operate four daily frequencies between Copenhagen Airport and Bergen. In addition, there will be one flight from Bergen to Copenhagen on Saturdays and one flight from Copenhagen to Bergen on Sundays.
Three out of four flights will be operated with B737-700s, while B373-800s will be used for the fourth flight. There will be no noon flight during the peak season from 23 June to 25 August.
