New smoking policy for passengers at Copenhagen Airport
Copenhagen Airports A/S has revised its smoking policy for the passenger areas in line with new Danish legislation on non-smoking that came into force on 15 August 2007.
From 15 August, smoking is no longer permitted in the terminal areas of Copenhagen Airport, except in designated areas with special smoking facilities.
The ban on smoking applies throughout the airport, i.e. in the check-in area, the security area, in all gates, the baggage reclaim area, piers A, B, C and D and in the entire shopping area, including restaurants and cafés.
We have asked our partners at the airport that they enforce the provisions of the legislation in the way they each prefer. This means, among other things, that they are free to decide whether they want to establish smoking facilities in the areas they command at the airport. This concerns areas such as the private lounges, the Hilton’s conference facilities in Terminal 3, the car hire areas and the travel agencies.
Designated central smoking rooms will established in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In addition smoking cabins approved under Danish law will be available in Pier C and at either end of the baggage reclaim area.
The designated smoking room in Terminal 2 will be ready to use from the end of week 37. It is expected that the smoking cabins in Pier C, Terminal 1 and the baggage reclaim area will open in week 34, i.e. the week beginning on 20 August. Moreover, a smoking cabin already exists by the access area to Pier C; however; this cabin will be removed when the new smoking cabin in Pier C is ready for use.
In addition, smoking is permitted outside the terminal building by the entrances to the check-in areas and along the terminal areas.
