SAS to launch flights to Delhi and San Francisco
Next winter, passengers at Copenhagen Airport will have the option of flying non-stop to Delhi and San Francisco on SAS when the airline launches Airbus 340 services to the two destinations.
When SAS implements its winter schedule for 2008, there will be four weekly flights from Copenhagen Airport to Delhi and three weekly flights to San Francisco.
"Both Delhi and San Francisco are interesting destinations for both business and leisure travellers. India is a rapidly growing market, and there is already now great demand for flights to California. So this is in line with our strategy of meeting our customers’ demand, not least for non-stop flights to Asia and the US," said Lars Sandahl Sørensen, Commercial Director of SAS Airlines International.
SAS has a comprehensive partnership with United Airlines, which can provide onward transportation from San Francisco to other US destinations.
The international hub of Scandinavia
"New intercontinental routes are crucial to the development of the airport and to our ability to retain our position as the international hub of Scandinavia. Therefore, we are very pleased that SAS now opens two new overseas routes. Direct overseas routes give our passengers a well-developed route network, and that is important in the competition with other airports," said Brian Petersen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
SAS recently opened a non-stop service to Dubai, which brought the number of overseas routes out of Copenhagen Airport to 19, eight of which are served by SAS.
