Lufthansa’s 50th anniversary at Copenhagen Airport
The first Lufthansa flight to Copenhagen Airport took place fifty years ago – on 6 October 1957. Back then, the airline had one daily flight and only on weekdays. Today, the German airline has flights several times a day between Copenhagen and Munich/Frankfurt and extra capacity is upcoming.
On the occasion of Lufthansa’s 50th anniversary at Copenhagen Airport, Karsten Benz, the airline’s Vice President, Sales & Service, Europe, visited Copenhagen. Here, he unveiled the airline’s expansion plans for Denmark.
“We wish to underpin our commitment to the Danish market and look forward to offering our customers additional flights operated by Lufthansa. In addition, we will increase our capacity out of Copenhagen and Billund, giving passengers out of Denmark better access to our international hubs, and thus more easy and quick connections to destinations around the world," said Dr. Benz.
Pleased with the extra capacity
From 31 March 2008, the number of frequencies out of Copenhagen to Munich and Frankfurt will be increased by one each to a total of five per day. Copenhagen Airports’ President and CEO is pleased with the extra capacity which will help strengthen the Copenhagen Airport’s position as an attractive hub:
“Lufthansa is a healthy and well-organised airline with an exciting future. We look forward to making innovative improvements for our passengers in a close dialogue with Lufthansa and the other airlines at the airport in order to ensure future success, growth and satisfied passengers. I am pleased on Lufthansa’s behalf and I look forward to our continuing collaboration,” said Brian Petersen of Copenhagen Airports.
To celebrate the anniversary, Lufthansa flew a special Airbus A321-100 D-AIRX in original Lufthansa retro design to Copenhagen Airport and the crew wore the original historic uniforms.
