Two summer routes to Iceland

Iceland Express, the Iceland-based low-cost airline, opens summer routes to Akureyri and Egilsstadir out of Copenhagen. Both destinations can be combined with the route to Reykjavik, which opens new travel opportunities in Iceland.

Next summer, travellers will have more options when travelling to Iceland out of Copenhagen Airport. Low-cost airline Iceland Express, which already offers services to Reykjavik out of Copenhagen, will offer two new routes during the period 1 June to 31 August 2007: Akureyri in the north of Iceland and Egilsstadir in the eastern part of the country.

Iceland Express will operate two weekly frequencies to Akureyri, on Mondays and Wednesdays. The area around Akureyri offers attractions such as whale safaris and the most powerful waterfalls in Europe. There will also be two weekly frequencies – on Thursdays and Fridays – to Egilsstadir, the main city in eastern Iceland.

During the summer months, Iceland Express moreover offers daily frequencies to Reykjavik, and as the airline sells its tickets on a one-way basis, travellers will have the option of combining the destinations. As an example, they may choose to travel from Copenhagen to Egilsstadir by air, drive across Iceland by car and fly back from Reykjavik.
