Additional security checkpoint for summer traffic

Copenhagen Airport is expecting a summer with a record number of travellers, up to 80,000 per day compared with the average number of around 50,000 per day. To accommodate this increase in passenger numbers, the airport has increased the number of entrances to the transit area from two to three.

On 3 April, an additional security checkpoint opened at Copenhagen Airport. The new entrance to the transit area is located next to the 7-eleven store in the Arcade between the two international terminals and will complement the entrances in Terminals 2 and 3.

Three security checkpoints to choose from

To prevent waiting times at the security checkpoints, passengers in the international terminals can now choose among three different entrances with a total of ten “tracks” for security control.

By increasing the number of entrances to the transit area, we reduce the strain on the individual checkpoints, so that passengers can get through security faster. Nevertheless, waiting times may occur on days with many flight departures, but with an additional checkpoint, passengers now have the opportunity to choose the checkpoint with the lowest number of passengers.

Electronic information screens at the stairs to the security checkpoints in the international terminals give information about the additional checkpoint. That way, passengers can choose the entrance with the shortest waiting time.
