The Supervisory Board of Copenhagen Airports A/S has appointed Egon Zehnder International, the executive search firm, to start up the search for a successor of Niels Boserup, President and CEO, who is due to retire in June 2008 when he reaches the age of 65. The Supervisory Board realises that it may take a long time from the start-up of the process until a new CEO can take up the position.
“We want to start up well in advance in order to avoid a management vacuum,” commented Henrik Gürtler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

A committee consisting of Henrik Gürtler, Supervisory Board member John Stent and Niels Boserup have drafted a profile to be used for Egon Zehnder’s search process. The profile is very comprehensive and detailed, and one of the requirements in the profile is that the coming CEO must be fluent in both Danish and English. The Supervisory Board expects that there will be a period during which Niels Boserup will work alongside his successor before he hands over the baton.
“I have been CEO for almost 16 years. Few top executives in the Danish business community have been at the helm for so long, and whilst it has been a very satisfying challenge to be in charge of the significant developments of the airport, the new CEO will take over the reins at a good time,” said Boserup.
“Copenhagen Airport has a very exciting future: we are going to increase our passenger numbers from 20 to 30 million per year and will continue to develop our position as Scandinavia’s main hub. It will be the ideal position for the right candidate.”
