Airport to provide more inexpensive parking
Economy parking at the airport is adding 700 new parking spaces and lowering rates to DKK 250 per week. On the other hand, it will be more expensive to park in the sought-after Business areas near the terminals. New colours and new names will make it easier for motorists to find their way and choose between the different parking areas and prices.

With 700 new parking spaces offered at a lower rate, Copenhagen Airport is welcoming passengers who want to park their car at the airport while on summer holiday. The new spaces are an expansion in capacity in Economy parking, which the airport introduced in February as an inexpensive alternative to the parking areas closer to the terminals.
The new facility will open on 6 June 2006, the same day as Economy parking rates are lowered to DKK 250 per week (8 days) and DKK 425 for 15 days. Free shuttle bus transport between the Economy facility and the terminals is available 24 hours a day.
“The number of passengers is growing every year, and an increasing percentage of them want to park at the airport. With these 700 new spaces, we are providing a service to the passengers who don’t need to park right near the terminals – typically, holiday travellers – and we hope this will leave more spaces available in some of the other parking areas,” said Copenhagen Airports Vice President Mogens Kornbo.
Easier to choose

On 6 June, the airport will also be launching new names and colours for the various parking areas to make it easier for passengers to find their way around and choose between the different carparks and prices. On a general level, there are two choices: yellow Economy parking and blue Business parking.
Along with the expansion and lower prices for the most inexpensive parking, rates will be raised for Business parking, which is very much in demand.
“Demand for parking nearest the terminals is high, and we are constantly expanding capacity to keep up with demand. Last year we opened a new multi-storey Business carpark with 1000 spaces, and after the summer holidays we will have another carpark with 1400 spaces available,” said Kornbo. |
“This parking is typically used by business travellers who only leave their cars there for a few days at a time. What’s important for these passengers is that there are empty spaces near the terminals with fast and easy access to the airport.”
Competitive rates
The new airport parking rates will range from DKK 250 a week to DKK 295 a day. The airport can always offer a parking space, but not necessarily in the area or at the price the passenger chooses. If one carpark is full, passengers are referred to other ones that may either be more or less expensive.
“We offer a wide range of parking options in different categories and match the rates charged in other areas with a high demand for parking. The airport offers less expensive options than the Copenhagen city centre, for example, even in Business parking,” said Kornbo.
