Festival of lights at the airport

Over 89 thousand Christmas lights are shining at Copenhagen Airport, where passengers might just run into Santa Claus – and perhaps some Christmas gift ideas as well.

Christmas is a celebration of light, also at Copenhagen Airport, where more than 89 thousand Christmas lights help elicit the Christmas spirit among airport passengers and staff.

Inside the terminals, 28,550 lights decorate Christmas trees and wreaths, whilst 60,700 Christmas lights brighten trees and bushes outside, along the Lufthavnsboulevarden from Amager Landevej to the roundabout at Terminal 2.

A little elf will tell you…

The Christmas season started a while ago at the airport’s shopping centre, in the tax-free shops as well as the many speciality shops. Among other things, passengers may see a little elf hanging about, reminding them that there is a 30-day exchange window for gifts purchased at airport shops, should one have been so unfortunate to buy the wrong size or if the present wasn’t exactly what the recipient wanted.

Father Christmas will be visiting the shopping centre on selected days up to 22 December, and, as is the tradition, the airport will host St. Annae School students lighting up the day with their Lucia Day procession between 9 and 10 am on 13 December.
