Autumn holiday means busy airport
The traditional Danish autumn holiday is almost upon us, and Copenhagen Airport is readying itself for one of the biggest travel weekends of the year, when thousands of Danes fly off for a week's holiday abroad. An extraordinarily high number of departing passengers are expected to fill the airport on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (12-15 October 2006).
"The days up to the autumn holiday are among the busiest days of the year for the airport, which is why we're putting up an 'autumn barometer' at www.cph.dk where passengers can see what to expect at the airport and find some good advice before their trip," says Anette Haaning, head of communications at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Some airlines, for example, are allowing their passengers to do their own checking in, which eliminates waiting at the check-in counters. "We ask passengers to look into these options before they go," Haaning says.
Extra entrance
To shorten the wait at the security checkpoints this holiday, Copenhagen Airport is opening an interim security checkpoint in the Arcade so passengers can choose this entrance instead of the checkpoints in Terminals 2 and 3. The Arcade entrance is otherwise closed in connection with the construction of a new, central security checkpoint scheduled for completion next summer and as a replacement for the current passenger entrances.
The security checkpoint in the Arcade – the area between Terminals 2 and 3 – will be open from 5 am to 8 pm from Thursday, 12 October, to Monday, 16 October 2006.
