No. 1 in Scandinavia, no. 14 in Europe, no. 58 in the world

Copenhagen Airport has retained its position as Scandinavia’s largest airport, as no. 14 in Europe and as number 58 worldwide. In terms of international passengers alone, Copenhagen continues to be no. 18 worldwide.

The figures are from the annual comparison of traffic at the 1,000 largest airports worldwide, which has been prepared by the Airports Council International (ACI) and was published recently.

With 20 million passengers last year, Copenhagen Airport is ahead of Stockholm/Arlanda’s just over 17 million passengers and Oslo’s 16 million passengers. At the European level, Copenhagen is ahead of Milan, Dublin, Zurich and Brussels; and worldwide the airport is ahead of the airports of cities such as Tampa, Osaka, Shanghai and Mumbai. In terms of international passengers, Copenhagen with its just over 18 million passengers is ahead of the airports of cities such as Los Angeles, Toronto, Rome and Vienna.

Last year, passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport grew by 5%, whilst the growth rate for the first six months of 2006 was 6.3%. The airport expects to reach 21 million passengers before the end of the year.
