Spain tops growth in passenger numbers

Passenger numbers on the routes between Copenhagen and Spain are growing steadily. For the third consecutive year, Spain saw the highest passenger growth of the more than 50 countries that can be reached by direct flights from Copenhagen Airport.

Almost 1.3 million passengers travelled between Copenhagen and various destinations in Spain last year, which was 128,000 more than in 2004, representing a growth rate of 11%.

Madrid is the largest Spanish destination and also saw the highest growth in 2005: 76,000 passengers and 31% more than in 2004. This was followed by Palma de Mallorca with a growth by 27,000 passengers and Barcelona with 23,000 more passengers.

The second-highest growth rate by country was seen in the routes to France, on which 107,000 more passengers were carried in 2005 than the year before. Also the routes to Switzerland saw passenger numbers grow, namely by more than 100,000.
