Music and conjuring tricks at the airport

Waiting at the airport is no fun; therefore it is nice with some entertainment to pass the time. This was what many passengers experienced on Wednesday, 14 June 2006 at Copenhagen Airport when they were met with singing, music and conjuring tricks in the airport terminals.

The airlines SAS and Sterling had arranged the entertainment together with the airport to give passengers free entertainment on their way through the airport. The occasion was that it was one of the first peak travel days at Copenhagen Airport with close to 80,000 passengers going through the airport.

Already from the early hours of the day, many passengers enjoyed the beautiful vocal singing by opera singer Sofie Ottosen in Terminal 3 backed by a gypsy trio. This was very popular among passengers, who made spontaneous applauses and took lots of photos.

“It was really fantastic. I have travelled in very many countries, but I have never experienced anything like this.

The entertainment creates a very pleasant atmosphere and helps make the experience at the airport less stressful,” said Robin Hsu from Taiwan.

He had just arrived on the morning flight from Bangkok and decided to postpone his train ride to Sweden by half an hour to listen to the entertainment at the airport.

Card triks and ballon animals

A Swedish family with two young children were busy checking in for their flight to Moscow, but they were all smiles and found time to enjoy the little show when one of the three magicians contacted them and showed card tricks and handed out colourful balloon animals.

“It’s great to have entertainment at the airport when you travel with children and are waiting in line for check-in,” the family commented before hurrying on to security check carrying balloon animals and lollipops.

This summer, Copenhagen Airport is serving more passengers than ever before, and that makes for extra busy times at the airport with longer-than-normal waiting times at check-in and the security checkpoints.

Special summer section on cph.dk

Copenhagen Airport has taken a number of initiatives to make the passenger’s passage through the airport as flexible and frictionless as possible during the busy times. In the special summer section on http://www.cph.dk/, passengers can get advice and guidelines on the start of their trip. Moreover, the airport has put in extra service staff to assist passengers.
