More passengers than ever travel to the USA
The number of airline passengers between Denmark and the USA is setting new records. Scheduled flights between Copenhagen Airport and the United States carried 79,000 passengers in June, which was 32% more than in June last year, and the highest number of passengers ever.
In early May, a new route to the USA was opened when US-based airline Delta opened its new service to Atlanta, and later in the same month Continental Airlines launched its service to New York, which is already served by SAS. In addition, SAS operates routes to Seattle, Chicago and Washington D.C.
“The travel market to the United States has shown growth for a long time, and the two new services significantly increase the number of flights to the United States out of Copenhagen Airport. Many passengers who used to travel to the USA via other large European airports now choose to fly directly from here. This strengthens Copenhagen’s position as a European air traffic hub,” said Corinna Lundbæk Pedersen, Department Manager at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
