Longer waiting times during busy summer period
The combination of many passengers and stricter requirements to security checks leads to longer waiting times at Copenhagen Airport this summer.
There are many passengers at Copenhagen Airport during the summer, and regulatory requirements to security checks have been increased, including requirements for more body searches. Thus, waiting times at security check will be longer than normal at certain times.
“With up to 80,000 passengers per day, it’s impossible to avoid that queues sometimes become longer than normal. We do everything we can to minimise waiting times, but no matter how many passengers are waiting in line, we cannot compromise on the regulatory requirements to security,” said Vice President Mogens Kornbo of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Help at hand
In order to ease the process, the airport has posted extra service staff at the entries to the security checkpoints. The service team is there to help passengers place their coats and cabin baggage in the trays and to remind passengers to take their keys, coins, mobile phones and the like out of their pockets before they go through the actual check.
“We lend passengers a helping hand and at the same time ask them to be patient and understand that we have to carefully observe the regulatory requirements to security,” said Kornbo, who also urges passengers to follow the airport’s guidelines and advice on security checks.
Advice to passengers on security checks:
- Click on www.cph.dk – Summer at the airport – and check how busy we expect the airport to be when you are going to travel.
- Read the information on www.cph.dk – Security – about what you are allowed to carry in your hand baggage.
- Go to the airport well in advance – preferably 2½ hours before departure on peak days.
- Check the actual waiting time at the security checkpoints on the electronic signs.
- Choose another entry if the waiting time is long – you can choose freely between the entries in Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and the Arcade (between T2 and T3) during the daytime.
- Before going through security, we ask you to empty your pockets and put the following items into your hand baggage: mobile phone, keys, wallet and coins.
- Have your boarding pass ready in your hand.
- Laptop computers must be taken out of any bag they may be in.
- Put your purse and/or bag on the conveyor belt.
- Place your coat in a tray and place the tray on the conveyor belt.
- If in doubt, please ask the airport service staff, who are there to help you.
- Be patient, we make thorough security checks for your own sake.
