Get up early – and shop
A growing number of passengers are at Copenhagen Airport in the early morning hours, especially during the summer when many holiday travellers check in before 6 am.
In the airport shopping centre, the early risers have so far had the opportunity to shop in the tax-free shops from 6 am, whilst the specialty shops and some of the restaurants do not open until an hour later.
This is going to change. From 1 May, the 48 specialty shops in the shopping centre as well as most of the cafes and restaurants will open at 6 am to cater to passengers with early morning flights.
“The new opening hours will give up to half a million passengers per year shopping opportunities at the airport’s many exciting specialty shops. They will now have the same shopping opportunities as all other passengers,” commented Vice President Henrik Busch of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Initially, the new opening hours will be in force during a trial period running from 1 May to 31 August 2006. During that period, the specialty shops and restaurants will be open from 6 am to 10 pm, whilst the large tax-free shop will be open from 6 am to 11 pm as usual.
