Travelling out of CPH continues to be secure

The EU Commission is continuously making inspections of the airports in the EU. Copenhagen Airports (CPH) has been notified by the national regulatory authority, the Danish CAA, that the EU has made comments to the way CPH is carrying out security. More specifically, this means that the destination airport must be able to guarantee that passengers from Copenhagen Airport are kept separate from other passengers. If the airports cannot guarantee that, passengers risk having to go through an extra security check, but it is up to the authorities in the individual countries to implement that, and in practice there will be differences in how it is handled.

It is not an unusual situation that the EU Commission makes comments on the security level of airports; large European airports such as Frankfurt and Munich have had periods with similar measures.

“CPH has already taken the necessary steps to ensure that we fully comply with the regulatory requirements. Among the steps taken we have changed some procedures for the check of persons based on the directions made by the authorities. Even though CPH has taken the necessary steps, it will take some time before the authorities can assess whether CPH is now in full compliance with the security requirements of the EU regulation. When procedures are changed, a single control inspection is not enough, continuous monitoring is needed for a period of time. I cannot make any further comments on security as only the authorities are allowed to make comments on these matters. I cannot make any further comments on security as only the authorities are allowed to make comments on these matters. Passengers can continue to feel secure when travelling out of Copenhagen Airport. CPH has taken the necessary steps and changed its procedures and is subject to continuous inspection by the authorities”, says CEO Niels Boserup, Copenhagen Airports.
