Europe’s best for the fifth consecutive year
The passengers are not in doubt. Copenhagen Airport continues to be Europe’s best. This good rating is not least the result of the good ambience and helpful employees.
Light and spacious surroundings. Modern art and architecture. Beautiful wooden floors and functional furniture. Copenhagen Airport is world famous for its unique ambience, which is highly valued by passengers from the whole world. The ambience is also one of the elements that made passengers rate Copenhagen Airport Europe’s best for the fifth consecutive year.
That was done in the international AETRA survey, whose results for 2005 have just been released. In the survey, the service levels of 66 airports worldwide are compared on the basis of interviews with 100,000 passengers.
Copenhagen was rated best in Europe ahead of 29 other airports, among them Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, Hamburg and some of the largest hubs in Europe such as London/Heathrow and Amsterdam. This year, Copenhagen shares the first place with the airport in Brussels as the ratings of the two airports were very close. The airport at Zurich was rated number two and Helsinki number three.
Number three worldwide
In addition to the top rating in Europe, Copenhagen Airport was rated third best worldwide in the category of airports with 15-25 million passengers per year. This second place is also shared with Brussels, whilst Kuala Lumpur was rated number one and Dubai number two. Copenhagen Airport is the largest in Scandinavia with 20 million passengers per year and flights to 130 destinations.
“We are very proud that we have succeeded in getting the top rating in Europe for the fifth consecutive year and that we got such a good worldwide rating. The competition for the top ratings is intensified from year to year as more and more airports participate in the survey. Last year, alone, 26 new airports were included in the survey,” said Passenger Manager Susanne Frank, who received the two awards on behalf of Copenhagen Airports A/S on Monday evening at a conference in Abu Dhabi.
Helpful staff
In the AETRA survey, the service at the airports is compared in eight differed categories through 32 questions. In addition to ambience, passengers gave Copenhagen Airport high ratings in areas such as level of cleaning, courtesy and helpfulness of airport staff and ground transportation to/from airport.
“Our excellent rating was not only achieved due to the airport’s good facilities but just as much because of the great efforts of the 22,000 employees from many different companies who work round the clock at the airport," said Susanne Frank.
The AETRA survey is made in a collaboration between the airline organisation IATA and the airport organisation ACI. At Copenhagen Airport, the survey is part of a quality assurance programme, which also comprises own measurements and surveys. Together, the elements of the programme give the management and the employees a continuous image of how well the airport meets its quality targets.
