Copenhagen Airport ready for record-breaking summer traffic
Passenger numbers of up to 80,000 per day at Copenhagen Airport make the summer months what the Christmas season is for the high-street shops; and the more passengers than ever before are expected during the summer of 2005. In order handle the flow of all these passengers through the airport without any problems, the number of service assistants will be increased.
The summer is the peak season at Copenhagen Airport. Last year, almost 40% of the 19 million passengers travelled during the four summer months of June, July, August and September, and the number of passengers is expected to be even higher this year. On peak travel days this coming summer, the number of passengers travelling into or out of Copenhagen is expected to be up to 80,000, twice as many as on an average day in January.
“We are moving into a very busy period. Together with the airlines and our other partners, we have spent some time over the past nine months to prepare ourselves to provide the good service to passengers during the summer peak period, so that we continue to live up our title of ‛Europe’s best airport’, says Merete Rønde, Passenger Director at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
More service staff
Additional service assistants have been hired to help guide and assist passengers during the peak months. These people will be working in the check-in area and in other central locations at the airport. It will be easy to identify the service staff as they will be wearing lime-colour poloshirts with the Copenhagen Airports logo: CPH.
The Copenhagen Airport website http://www.cph.dk/ will display information on the situation on the individual days and advice on what passengers can do themselves to ensure that their passage through the airport is as easy as possible.
