Copenhagen Airports A/S satisfied with decision on security charge
Earlier today, Copenhagen Airports A/S received a reply from the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy in respect of its application for an increase of the passenger charge by DKK 5.80 to partially cover increased costs for security.
The Ministry of Transport and Energy did not accept the application for an increase of the charge already this year. The motivation for the rejection was that the stricter security requirements imposed by the authorities will not take effect until in 2006. On the other hand, the Ministry has indicated that it is prepared to approve these costs being included in an application for an increase of the passenger charge for 2006.
Torben Thyregod, CFO of Copenhagen Airports A/S commented:
“We are satisfied with the Ministry’s indication that our increased security costs may be included in an application for 2006. We began making the necessary investments already a long time back in order to meet the requirements from the authorities as from the turn of the year. However, it is not crucial whether we can cover these costs through an increase of the charge already this year or not until next year.”
In order to meet the stricter security requirements from the authorities, CPH has doubled the number of security staff in recent years and invested in new technology and implemented major building changes.
