Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise is the carrier offering the two extra weekly flights. The company will be operating the service with a Boeing 737-500. |
The latest traffic statistics for the Saint Petersburg–Copenhagen route (from 2004) revealed a 12% traffic increase, bringing passenger growth for the period 2000–2004 to 23%.
“We’ve seen a positive trend in traffic to Eastern Europe over the last five years. Especially Poland and Russia have taken off recently. People in Russia have more money on their hands, and that means they travel more and take more mini breaks. At the same time, Scandinavians have discovered Saint Petersburg, a kind of Venice of the North offering all the cultural opportunities such an obvious extended-weekend-destination should have,” says Susanne Sørensen, route developer at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
In addition to Pulkovo, SAS also operates a Saint Petersburg–Copenhagen route and the two operators have a codeshare arrangement on the service.
Pulkovo recently began to cooperate with Rossiya Airlines, and together they are Russia’s second-largest carrier. Pulkovo served 2.7 million passengers in 2004.
