More passengers travel to Budapest

Sterling     The launch by two low-cost carriers of flights between Copenhagen and Budapest has resulted in a sharp increase in the number of passengers on the route. In July alone, the number of passengers on the route was 7,000 or 50% higher than in the same period last year.

Low-cost carrier Sterling added Budapest to its route network out of Copenhagen Airport in late February this year, and two months later, East European low-cost carrier SkyEurope introduced flights to the Hungarian capital. In addition, SAS and Hungarian airline Malev operate flights on the route.

In the first seven months of the year, the number of passengers on the Copenhagen-Budapest route increased by a combined 15,000, or 19% year-on-year.   SkyEurope

”The growth in passenger numbers on the route to Budapest shows that an increase in the supply of low-fare tickets makes more people travel. That is a trend also seen on other routes where the low-cost carriers have come in. The low-cost carriers simply expand the market,” says route developer Ole Wieth Christensen, Copenhagen Airports A/S.
