Passengers: Copenhagen is Europe’s best airport

For the fourth consecutive year, passengers have rated Copenhagen Airport best in Europe. They did so in the international AETRA survey, which benchmarks service at 40 airports woldwide on the basis of interviews with 65,000 passengers.

In the survey, Copenhagen competed with 23 other airports in Europe – among them major hubs such as Amsterdam and London/Heathrow. Helsinki was rated second, and Athens came in third.

“We are proud that passengers have once again rated Copenhagen Airport Europe’s best. You can’t just take it for granted. Once an airport has received a top rating, it leads to high expectations, which makes it even more difficult to retain the leading position,” comments Passenger Manager Susanne Frank of Copenhagen Airports A/S.

Benchmarking of service

The AETRA survey includes 31 different service ratings, and Copenhagen received top ratings in Europe in 15 of these categories, including in general satisfaction with the airport, parking facilities, efficiency of check-in staff, signposting, information boards, availability of baggage carts, restaurant and shopping facilities, and security.

“The good rating in the various categories is not only attributable to us, it is also the result of the great efforts made by our many partners who help maintain the position of Copenhagen Airport as one of the best in the world,” adds Susanne Frank.

The AETRA survey is conducted jointly by the International Air Transport Organisation (IATA) and Airports Council International (ACI). At Copenhagen Airport, the survey is part of a quality assurance programme which also includes in-house measurements and surveys. Overall, the programme gives Copenhagen Airports’ management and employees an ongoing picture of how well the Copenhagen Airport meets its own quality targets.
