Egypt high on passenger hit list
A comparison of January 2005 with January 2004 figures shows that Egypt is one of the top destinations in terms of passenger numbers. In January last year, 10,063 passengers travelled to Egypt, whilst the number of passengers to this popular destination soared to 17,733 in January 2005, equivalent to 76% growth.
“The Danes really love Egypt. The country has long been a popular destination, but in recent years Egypt has done a lot to profile itself as more than just a country of historical interest: as a country with a different and exotic culture. We are now seeing the results of these efforts. Today, Egypt is very much an alternative to the Mediterranean destinations," comments Trille Tang Dalsgaard, head of Airline Relations at Copenhagen Airports A/S.
There are both charter flights and scheduled flights to Egypt out of Copenhagen. For example, Maersk Air, Novair, SAS and Sterling have services to the destinations Hurghada, Sharm el sheikh, Luxor, Alexandria and Cairo.
