Most efficient airport in Europe – for the second consecutive year

Copenhagen Airports was recently rated the most efficient airport in Europe. For the second consecutive year, Copenhagen Airport received this prestigious title from the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS). The ATRS is an academic forum consisting of a number of professors from various universities throughout the world.

“We consider good service and high quality key factors. Passengers are and should be in focus, but we also have to run a business, and it is nice to have confirmation that one does not leave out the other. It is our vision to be the best airport in the world, to be among the least expensive in Europe and to be the largest in Scandinavia. In the past four years, passengers have rated us Europe’s best airport. Relative to our vision of being among the least expensive airports in Europe, it is very important to us to be rated the most efficient airport in Europe. We are proud to get confirmation by neutral and very competent people, that we also run a very sound business,” comments Vice President Mogens Kornbo of Copenhagen in connection with the announcement of the results of the survey in Rio de Janeiro a few days ago.

Working out which airport is the most efficient is done by comparing airport productivity, which includes the number of staff and their ability to generate profits. The measurements also include airport charges, financial performance, cost per passenger, passengers per staff, number of staff per take-off or landing – altogether how much each airport gets out of its production apparatus.

In the category of the world’s most efficient airport, Tampa International Airport came out first, Singapore Changi Airport was rated the most efficient airport in Asia, and Vancouver International Airport won the title for North America.
