Direct Delta flights to the USA from Copenhagen

Next spring, passengers from Denmark and southern Sweden will have many new flight options to the USA, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, when the world’s second-largest airline, Delta Air Lines, starts its new daily direct service from Copenhagen to Atlanta in the USA. The new service is the only direct service between Scandinavia and the southern USA.

Delta begins operations on 2 May 2006 out of Copenhagen Airport to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the world’s largest airport, with Delta connections to 194 destinations on the American continent and in the Caribbean.

Delta is going to operate daily flights departing from Copenhagen at 11 am and arriving in Atlanta at 2.55 pm local time. Out of Atlanta, flights will depart at 6.00 pm and arrive in Copenhagen the next morning at 9 o’clock.

“We are very pleased to present our new route out of Copenhagen to the USA. The direct connection to Atlanta, Delta’s largest hub, will give both business and leisure travellers new and improved travel options. Delta has more than 1000 departures per day out of Atlanta, among them flights to popular destinations such as Florida, Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Loren Neuenschwander of Delta’s Atlantic Region.

Growing demand

Copenhagen Airport has seen a growing demand for flights between Copenhagen and the USA in recent years, and the airport looks forward to offering its passengers additional flight options with the new service to Atlanta.

“A growing number of Americans visit Copenhagen these years, not least as cruise passengers, and more Scandinavians than ever travel to the USA. With this route, passengers will have new opportunities, and more people will be encouraged to travel across the Atlantic,” said Niels Boserup, President and CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
