Agreement reached on airport charges for the next 3 years
Copenhagen Airports A/S today reached an agreement with the airline companies operating from Kastrup about airport charges for next 3 years (2006-2008). New tariff regulations based on the agreement will now be presented to the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy for approval.
“We are pleased that we once again succeeded in making a voluntary agreement on the charges. From our part the agreement is an offer to the airline companies. We reduce the charges and take on a larger part of the security expenses and furthermore offer a cash bonus if the number of passengers increases” says Torben Thyregod, CFO, who has been in charge of the negotiations on behalf of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
“With this agreement the airline companies and the airport will have a common goal – to attract more passengers and create new routes out of Copenhagen. This will strengthen Copenhagen Airport’s position as a hub in Northern Europe and will be for the benefit of the whole region” says Torben Thyregod.
Main elements of the charges agreement:
-
The charges are reduced by 3 per cent in 2006. In 2007 the charges are increased by 1 per cent and again by 1 per cent in 2008.
-
A cash bonus rewarding the airline companies for growth in passengers is introduced in order to increase the traffic development in Copenhagen Airport.
-
In order to stimulate the development in international traffic a rebate is introduced on large aircraft. The take-off charges are reduced by 50 per cent for weight above 200 tonnes.
-
Copenhagen Airports A/S takes on a larger part of the security expenses. The previous announced additional security charge of 5.80 DKK is reduced to 4.00 DKK.
