Most new routes out of Copenhagen Airport
With a total of 27 routes – and 21 new routes over the span of only one year – Maersk Air is the airline that opens most new routes at Copenhagen Airport this year. On 3 September Maersk Air opens the first route from Copenhagen to Bratislava, and later in the year the airline will open routes to Rome and Cairo.
Taking effect on 31 October, the airline’s winter programme introduces eight new routes to the following destinations: Madeira, Geneva, Istanbul, Manchester, Malta, Tenerife, Warsaw and Zurich. When these routes are in operation, the airline will have 27 routes out of Copenhagen Airport.
Maersk Air intends to open additional routes to cities in Germany when the winter programme starts, but the actual destinations of the new services out of Copenhagen have not yet been finally determined.
Finn Øelund, CEO of Maersk Air: ”Maersk Air has decided to increase its presence at Copenhagen Airport because the airport is the Scandinavian link to the rest of Europe and the rest of the world and is used by many passengers and airlines. This is a good basis for offering flights to a wide range of European capitals, cities and holiday resorts at competitive, affordable prices.”
”It is very positive that Maersk sees Copenhagen Airport as a natural hub for air traffic, and it is always very exciting when an airline is trying out new business concepts that provide passengers with new opportunities and options,” says Trille Tang Dalsgaard, Head of Airline Relations at Copenhagen Airports.
