Passengers to non-EU countries, the UK or Ireland should arrive early at the airport
Passengers travelling from Copenhagen Airport to a non-EU country, the UK or Ireland should arrive at the airport well in advance of departure, preferably half an hour earlier than normal.
Since 16 June, the Copenhagen Police have had considerably fewer police officers than normal staffing the passport control booths, with many officers taking time off in lieu of overtime pay after last year’s EU summit in the city. As a result, passengers to non-Schengen countries may end up waiting up to 20 minutes to go through passport control. There is also a risk that passengers arriving at Copenhagen Airport may have to stand in queue longer than usual.
Departing passengers will typically have to wait longer than usual between the hours of 9.00–10.00, 14.30–15.30 and 19.00–19.30. If you travel at other times of the day, the wait is only about three minutes. Please note that passengers travelling between Schengen countries – and to or from Norway, Greenland or Iceland – do not have to go through the passport checkpoints. (01.08.03)
