Copenhagen Airport in a dialogue with Scandlines about port facilities
With the development of a new transport centre, there will be direct connections to the motorway and railway networks as well as access to sea transport from the airport area. Scandlines is interested in a partnership aimed at establishing port facilities.
Seventy-five participants from Danish and international companies, as well as decision-makers from the transport sector, will be attending a conference held by Copenhagen Airports A/S today on the development of a new transport power centre. The transport centre will be located by the airport area on the 420,000 sq.m. of reclaimed land that was created in connection with the construction of the Øresund Link.
“This area is one of the prime locations in Europe with respect to access to transport via air, surface and sea. This unique location means that we have already been talking to several different international companies that are very interested in renting space in the area. Scandlines is one of the Danish companies that has shown an interest in setting up a partnership to develop port facilities. We hope that the transport centre will enable us to strengthen our vital position in the Øresund region and give us a central placement as northern Europe’s cargo hub,” says Copenhagen Airports Real Estate Department head Mogens Kornbo.
The conference is being held to attract attention to the project, which is at the initial stage only at this point. Speakers at the conference are:
Danish Minister for Economic and Business Affairs Bendt Bendtsen
Johan Paludan, president and CEO of the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies
Jens Hennild, head of transport policy for the Confederation of Danish Industries
Michael Svane, CEO of the Danish Transport and Logistics Association
O. Rolf Larssen, CEO of Copenhagen Capacity
