New Copenhagen Airport real estate department to participate in Nepix

For the first time, Copenhagen Airports A/S will be taking part in Nepix, a real estate exhibition to be held at the Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. The airport operator plans to attract attention to its new business area: real estate development.

The Real Estate Department first attended an international real estate exhibition in March 2002, namely at MIPIM in Cannes, France, where the projects presented by the airport attracted a great deal of attention, and where the renovated Vilhelm Lauritzen terminal was nominated for a prize in the category "Renovated Office Buildings" and received the jury’s special prize.

The department was set up last year. Copenhagen Airports Vice President Mogens Kornbo, head of the Real Estate Department, says about Nepix:

"Copenhagen Airports has always been very interested in attracting companies to the airport and the surrounding area, and we are going to focus on that through our real estate development activities."

Current projects

Copenhagen Airports is currently in a dialogue with interested parties about a project comprising a five-storey office building north of the airport in the P9 car park area next to the Hilton Copenhagen Airport. If the project on the 55,000 sq.m. site ever gets past the planning stage, it will be the first of its kind headed by the new department.

Other development projects include a 200-room three-star hotel to the west of the Hilton scheduled to open in the spring of 2004. Copenhagen Airports also bought the 418,000 sq.m. artificial peninsula that was formed when the Oresund Link was built: distribution and cargo terminals can be built on the approximately 200,000 sq.m. land now available.
