Football World Cup activities at Copenhagen Airport
Starting Sunday, 19 May, and during the World Cup finals, Copenhagen Airports A/S will host a number of activities related to this exciting event.
Painting with a football atmosphere
Jeppe Eisner will start off the festivities by painting football players and a football atmosphere in a piece he will be working on during the entire World Cup. According to the artist, his painting will combine fantasy, adventure and a football atmosphere inspired by what happens during the tournament. The artist has previously painted portraits of Danish national team goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and the Danish royal family, and most recently decorated a board fence at the Copenhagen amusement park "Bakken" with his artwork.
You can follow his progress in creating the painting at Copenhagen Airport’s Web site: www.cph.dk . There will also be a chance to submit bids for the finished painting when it is auctioned off. The proceeds of the auction will be donated to a Unicef project to provide treatment for traumatised children in war zones.
Morten Olsen’s dream team
The Danish team will leave for Korea and Japan at 10.30 a.m. on 19 May to play in the World Cup finals. Before their departure, Morten Olsen will reveal his own dream team. The Danish team coach has put together a team of football stars from all over the world. Portrayed in their national uniforms and each supplied with a short profile, the team will be displayed at Nytorv, the square across from the shopping centre. Morten Olsen will sign his dream team display at 9.00 a.m., before he and his team take off for the World Cup.
Sporting equipment to be ‘blessed’
At about 9.00 Saturday morning, two containers with the Danish team’s playing equipment will be loaded onto the Korean Air 747 that will carry the equipment to Korea/Japan. The valuable cargo will be ‘blessed’ in accordance with an old Oriental custom, a task entrusted to the airport’s firemen, who will be carrying out a fire drill at the location.
